Honestly I started listening to jazz especially Art Blakey, and Bill Evans is because of this series, I hope the live action could bring that feeling and emotion to everyone just like what I felt back then when I watch the anime....

Kids on the Slope (Sakamichi no Apollon note literally Apollo on the Slope) is a manga series by Yuki Kodama. Summer, 1966. Kaoru Nishimi (Ryohei Kimura) constantly moves from town to town and school to school due to his father's job.
Indeed, Kids on the Slope is at its best when it flows with the languorous, irregular rhythm of jazz, letting us soak in the aesthetics and hang out with its characters. The animation is beautifully done, and the music is of course excellent (and what's more, we actually see the characters playing the notes -- no Nodame Cantabile-esque still frames here).
